Montauk, New York, is the easternmost tip of Long Island and of New York State. Its nicknames are the “Living End” and the “Last Resort.” Lots of people from the northeast come here in the summer months to enjoy the ocean. Many of the business in Montauk are only open seasonally.
There are six state parks in Montauk, as well as lots of beautiful sandy beaches where people go to swim, tan and surf. If you are headed to Montauk with your dog, there are plenty of activities to do, just make sure you follow the rules for the beaches and parks.

Montauk Point Lighthouse
A notable landmark, this is the oldest lighthouse in New York state. While dogs are not allowed in the building or museum of the Montauk Point Lighthouse, they may walk around on leash, outside on the rocky ledges or onto the nearby hiking trails.
Parks and Trails
Fresh Pond Loop Trail
The Fresh Pond Loop Trail is located within Hither Hills State Park. Dogs may hike these three easy miles with their owners, so long as they stay within the dog-friendly areas and are confined by a maximum 6-foot leash.
Shadmoor State Preserve Trail
This is an easy 2.5 mile hike that is located within the Shadmoor State Park Preserve. Dogs must be on leash that is no longer than 6 feet.
Point Woods Loop Trail
The Point Woods Loop Trail goes along the easternmost part of Montauk (and thereby Long Island). It is a 5.5 mile hike that should take about 3 hours to complete, so come prepared. It is definitely worth a visit for active humans and dogs, as there are beautiful views of the ocean and lighthouse. Dogs must be on a leash shorter than 6 feet to hike here.

Montauk Beaches
Dogs are forbidden to be on the Montauk Beaches from May 15 to late September, from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM. Any other time or day, dogs are allowed to run around the beaches off leash.

John’s Drive-In
John’s Drive-In offers all sorts of American fast food like burgers and hot dogs, as well as ice cream. Leashed dogs are allowed to be outside.
Inlet Seafood
Inlet Seafood is a newer restaurant owned by six commercial fishermen, and offers lunch and dinner with a full bar and wine list. Dogs can be at the outdoor tables in the summer.

i am looking for a summer rental for myself a senior with 4 dogs all super smart loving and well cared for money no object we need pick up from nyc and return to nyc for say 3 summer months do not drive need to be able to hit the beaches shop and dine out will also need a carekeeper for 2 days a week i need to go to nyc for business please advise.
