Tulsa, Oklahoma has tons of lovely outdoor things to do with your dog. It is a city with about 385,000 residents, and is the cultural and artistic center of Oklahoma. It is located on the Arkansas River and at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Watch out for tornadoes, though!

Attractions

Tulsa Garden Center

This garden center is located in historic Woodward Park, and is a horticultural headquarters for the Tulsa area. They often hold lessons, classes, shows and special events. It is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 AM-4:00 PM for free. It also has a huge horticultural library, as well as a rose garden and rock garden. Dogs are allowed on the grounds, so long as they are leashed, but not in any of the buildings.

Gilcrease Museum Gardens

You can take your leashed dog to these gardens that surround a history museum. There are five historic theme gardens, as well as walking paths and flower gardens.

Parks

Walnut Creek State Park

Located, in Prue, Oklahoma, this is a beautiful park that is on Keystone Lake. People go there to fish, boat, water ski, picnic and play sports. There are also hiking trails you can enjoy with your dog. Dogs must be leashed to attend this park. You must show proof of your dog’s latest inoculations, such as against rabies, and they cannot go in buildings or by the beaches.

Off-Leash Dog Parks

Biscuit Acres at Hunter Park

This is a recently opened off-leash dog park, in June 2009. It is fenced-in, has grass, benches, shade, night lighting and sometimes water. Dogs must have all of their vaccinations to go to this park.

Joe Station Bark Park

This park opened in 2008, and is open from 5:00 AM-11:00 PM. It has a separate area for small dogs, night lighting, shade, picnic tables and water. It is fenced and managed by the local community.

Stores

The Dog Dish

This store is located in the Farm Shopping Center, and offers things like baked goods, clothing, bowls, collars, leashes, toys, food, grooming supplies and more for dogs. Dogs are allowed to sniff around and shop with you on leash.

Outdoor Restaurants

Bruhouse

This restaurant serves food like chicken and burgers, and lots of beers. Dogs are allowed at the outer tables on leash. This restaurant even sells dog T shirts.

Ti Amo

This is a friendly Italian restaurant that also has a full bar. Dogs are allowed at outer tables.
