Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake, located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, between the border of California and Nevada. It is the largest alpine lake in the whole continent, and is also one of the deepest. Because of its natural beauty, there is much development in certain areas around the lake, full of resorts and tourist towns and facilities; much of the pristine beauty is still preserved. Tahoe Keys Boat Rentals
South Lake Tahoe, California
If you rent a boat to explore Lake Tahoe, dogs are allowed to you, as long as the boats are kept clean. The boat rentals are located in Tahoe Keys, and can be seasonal, so you should call them in advance.
Tallac Historic Site
South Lake Tahoe, California
This historic site contains three large estates which are open in the summer, and grounds that are open year round. Dogs can walk around the grounds and in the hiking trails, but cannot go into any of the buildings.
The Village at Squaw Valley
Olympic Valley, California
There are many fun activities to do with your dog in this European-style village. In the summer, your dog can ride the gondola with you. There are also many events in the summertime, such as outdoor movies and concerts, and you can usually take dogs. Many stores in the village are dog-friendly, just ask the staff!
Beaches and Parks
Pebble Beach/Dog Beach
Tahoe City, California
This little beach has no sand, but is full of pebbles and has very clean water for dogs to swim. Dogs must be leashed. There is no official name for this area, but it is located about 1-2 miles South of Tahoe City off Highway 89.
Desolation Wilderness
South Lake Tahoe, California
Desolation Wilderness is a wonderful 100 square mile wilderness area, located west of the lake. There are a few glacial lakes in this park, full of fish. There are many fun trails that you and your leashed dog can enjoy.
North Tahoe Regional Park
Kings Beach, California
This park is full of many trails, which are utilized in the summer by hikers, and in the winter by cross-country skiers. Leashed dogs are allowed to join you on these trails.

This pub and restaurant has a selection of Irish and American foods, and hosts live music, billiards and sports TV. Dogs are allowed at the outdoor area.
Rosie’s Cafe

This downtown restaurant is full of antique and vintage scenery, and offers a selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar. Dogs are allowed at the outdoor tables.
Mamasake Sushi
Olympic Valley, California
This is a Japanese restaurant that also offers Italian and Latin-American inspired cooking. Dogs are allowed at the outdoor tables.
